Strip Tease!

Summer is on the brink and it’s time to hit the beach! Oh wait, first we gotta gear ourselves with the perfect beach ensemble!

In this post we are covering a major 2017 trend for the summer – Stripes. Stripes are storming the spring/summer 2017 runways in every style you can possibly imagine — horizontal, vertical; thick lines and super skinny ones too. The catwalks at London, New York, Paris and Milan Fashion Week were awash with exciting new trends to try ourselves; But Stripes stand tall amongst them. From seaside to school to sailor and more – stripes were all over the SS17 catwalks in every beautiful form you could imagine.

Just when we thought there’s nothing more to stripes, the zig-zag, popularly called as chevron, stripes make their way. Ripped from beach umbrellas and lounge chairs, these in-your-face lines are the perfect summer staples to make heads turn on the beaches.
There are not many styles that a two-year-old girl and a 35-year-old man can both wear – stripes are perhaps the only contender. Whether horizontal, vertical, thin, thick, black and white or in living colour, stripes make a graphic statement. And while we can’t think of a time when stripes weren’t in, they are certainly back in a big way for Summer 2017.
Stripes are the simplest form for creating geometry in clothing, and especially when someone wants to deviate from ornate or floral prints in their ensembles. There are various types of stripes that you can choose from — Berton, barcode, pencil, rainbow, seaside and jail stripes are some of the popular ones.
The general rule of thumb with stripes is that vertical stripes create the illusion of height and make you look taller, while horizontal and broad stripes create the illusion of width. Thin stripes have a slimming effect and are perfect for pear and apple shaped body types.
Well, currently I am crushing on the bold Chevron stripes. The frisky zig-zag-zig-zag lines give an invigorating and breezy vibe and are perfect for the summer ensemble. The Chevron was first incorporated by Missoni, an Italian fashion house that is best known for its bold knitted pieces, with stripes and chevron patterns as its signature. Missoni used Chevron in various bleaky colors; their bold outfits required oodles of confidence!
For my ensemble, I chose the vertical chevron, over the customary diagonal stripes. The neon pink bustier jazzed the minimalist black-and-white chevrons. The maxi is absolutely dreamy, brezzy and surreal; perfect for the Summers!
With the wind in my hair and the endless horizon, I feel like a free bird!
Until next time!
