Is there any trend amiss with my outfit?!?
2017 is all about prints!
Tossing around the biggest spring/summer 2017 trends, prints once more came to certify that fashion without them, is like cake without sugar. With all those sorbet colors to dominate throughout the upcoming warm seasons, prints come as pretty additions to bring all that pizzazz around.
Checks and plaids are able to work magic when it is to work out a serious businesswoman look and are equally workable when the intent is a playful image. Plaids and checks have never been so euphoric both in terms of colors and sizes.
Originated from the oriental game of chess, checks are spunky and zesty. Well, it might be difficult to believe but a print as uncomplicated as checks has a lot of types based on their shape, size, and color.
The classic and traditional kind of checkered print generally used in formal ensembles like suits and overcoats.
The casual, fun, and don’t take yourself too seriously kind of checkered print. Use it to make some serious statement!
A woolen fabric with a woven twill design comprised of small and large checks.Glen plaid is also sometimes nicknamed the “Prince of Wales check”, as it was popularized by legendary style icon Duke of Windsor, while he was the Prince of Wales.
A check pattern that resembles the pattern of panes on a window.
Too much information??
Trust me, there are many more types of checks out there. :p
My kinda print is the windowpane checks, and it’s back in the trend with a vengeance. Windowpane check is a sign of a maverick; it’s a bold statement that signifies a person who goes his own way and doesn’t really care what you think about it.
It’s easier to pull off than you think. For my look, I chose a black checkered shirt and teamed it with windowpane check pencil skirt. Subtlety be damned, I exploded print from head to toe – umm, head to calves – for full effect. I chose monochrome for this look, as the neutral colors do not overpower the tip-to-toe checkered print.
Have you ever seen a better execution of the monochrome?!?
Style tip: Breaking a print is absolutely essential for you ensemble.
The black belt transitions the white-on-black checks to the black-on-white skirt.
Well, that’s how I do checks. Lemme know your opinion in the comment section below.
Stay put for more fashion trends and outfit curations.
Signing off! Until next time!
