There will be a lot more green in the world in 2017.
Pantone, the worldwide standard for color communication and inspiration since 1963, has declared Greenery as the color of the year 2017. Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring, illustrative of the flourishing foliage and lushness of the great outdoors. The fortifying attributes of Greenery calls you to take a deep breath, oxygenate, revive and reinvigorate.
“Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment,” says Leatrice Wiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more absorbed we are in the technology-driven modern world, the greater is our fascination with the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. The color of the year urges you to uninhibitedly reconnect with nature and go Green; literally!
The color of the year is already made its mark worldwide; be it clothes, accessories or automobiles. Designers like Michael Kors, Robert Geller, and Emilio Pucci incorporated the Greenery shade throughout their spring 2017 collections. Even Mercedes launched a variant in green, the “AMG Green Hell Magno”.
How to wear this rejuvenating color?
This fresh color looks amazing when paired with brown, black, beige, gold and navy, and therefore is very easy to style! From pants, skirts, tops and coats, you can wear anything you wish in this color. If you want to keep your outfit simple, you can just add some green accessories. You can also make a statement with heels in such color.
Wear a green coat or sweater for the cold freezing days and a fancy top or skirt for the hot spring and summer days.
Well, I am completely in awe of this refreshing color and will surely be using it in my outfits throughout the year. For my first look, I went a little overboard with the whole “reconnect” with the nature concept. Taking inspiration from the summer/spring fashion runaway, I wore a zesty crop top in the official color of the year. I teamed my cropped top with a long black floral skirt, with flowers printed all over it in varied shades of green. With those florals and greens all over me, don’t I look the epitome of the elemental concept of Greenery??
Well, it certainly feels positive to go Green; and count on seeing me a lot in this zesty color all through the year! Keep track of how I use it next.
Signing off. Until next time!
